Third Free Eye Treatment at Putao

Thidagu International Buddhist Missionary and Htoo Foundation collaborated in treating the eye patients of Putao from 10.7.2013 –13.7.2013.It isa third time that this kind of charitable deed has been done. Patients from hard to reach areas of Myanmar wereable to get their eyes treated with the help of the Regional Government authorities and Htoo Foundation. Eye surgeons from Thidagu International Buddhist Missionary attended to the needs of the patients. During this third assistance 971 eye patients from 6 Townships of Putao Region were checked and 125 patients were operated.

The first program was during November 2011 where 92 patients were operated and 800 patients were treated. The second of its kind was during October 2012 where 148 patients were operated and 1076 patients treated. The patients had to walk from their Villages to the treatments center as there are no roads. Htoo Foundation arranged transportation with motor bikes from the nearest accessible place. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided free of charge to the patients other basic necessities were also provided. Some patients had to come alone as they have no dependents; Htoo Foundation accompanied those patients on their way back home.
