A free eye treatment program was carried with the cooperation
between Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Group and Htoo Foundation at the Putao
district hospital in Kachin State.1,076 eye patients from 25 villages around Putao received eye
examination in which 148 were given free eye operation.
Htoo Foundation provided transport for the patients and food and lodging throughtout their
treatment or operation period. Eyeglasses are provided free to patients with weak eyesight and
sunglasses for those who have undergone eye operation.
Htoo Foundation donated one bag of rice each to six monasteries, three nunneries and five
churches in Putao. One hundred bags of rice were also donated to six villlages in Machan Baw
and Putao districts.
To mark the successful conclusion of free treatment program 1,500
planelets were distributed to patients from 25 villages for transplantation in their respective
villages. The plantlets were distributed handed out by Sitagu Sayadaw, U Zaw Mynn, Patron of
Htoo foundation, U Htoo Thet Htwe, Managing Director of Air Bagan Limited and U Hlaing
Tun, District Administrative Office of Putao.
While in Putao, Sitagu Sayadaw visited Putao jail on 17 August 2012 and delivered sermons to
the inmates after which Htoo Foundation treated them with biryani and presented articles for
personal use
Successful implementation of the free eye treatmant program in Putao was made possible by
donations from individual donors, contributions of Kyat 10 million each from Htoo Trading
Co.,Ltd., Air Bagan Ltd., Elite Tech Group of Companies and Ayeyar Shwe War Co., Ltd., free
round trip air tickets from Air Bagan and free food and lodging provided by Malikha Lodge
